Link PayPal

Take tips through PayPal - just enter the email of the account that should receive the money.

PayPal setup is one field: the email of the PayPal account that should receive tips. No OAuth, no redirect - tips are paid straight into that PayPal account.

Open Settings, Payments

Go to Settings, then the Payments tab, and find the PayPal panel.

Enter your PayPal email

Type the email of the PayPal account that should receive the money and hit Save.

Three things to know

  • The email isn’t verified up front. The first real tip is the test - if the email has a typo or can’t receive payments, tips fail on the viewer’s side. Triple-check it, then send yourself a small tip to be sure.
  • PayPal is the less private option, in both directions. PayPal payments are direct between two PayPal accounts, so PayPal shows each side the other’s details: you see the tipper’s name and email in your PayPal activity, and they see your account name on their receipt. Stripe doesn’t work that way - the full picture is on the privacy page.
  • We still recommend Stripe. Beyond privacy, PayPal disputes are easier to abuse, and banned donors can’t be stopped before they’re charged like card tips can. If you run both, you pick which one is active on your tip page - the Active on your tipping page selector appears when both are connected.

Disconnecting

Disconnect in the PayPal panel removes the email. If Stripe is connected it takes over; otherwise tipping is off until you connect a processor.
