title: Moving your payouts into TipPage
description: Why payouts are moving into the dashboard, what changes, what stays the same, and how to make the move.
---

Card tips have always run through Stripe, with each channel holding its own Stripe account and paying out from dashboard.stripe.com. Payouts are now moving into TipPage: your balance, your payout schedule, your bank account and paying out all live on the dashboard, and there is no Stripe account to manage and no Stripe login at all.

Channels connected before this change are on a **legacy Stripe account**. Nothing is wrong with it, but every channel will move across over time, and yours will be invited when it's ready. New channels get TipPage payouts from the start.

## Why

- **One place for everything.** Tips, refunds, reports, and now your balance and payouts, all in the dashboard you already use. No second login and no Stripe dashboard to learn.
- **Nothing to manage at Stripe.** Setup happens inside the dashboard: your country, your payout schedule, then a one-time identity and bank check on a form loaded from Stripe. After that there is no Stripe to go to: schedule changes, bank changes and payouts are all in TipPage, and anything Stripe needs from you shows up in the dashboard.
- **Your payout schedule, your call.** Manual, daily, weekly or monthly - you pick when you set up, nothing is chosen for you, and you can change it later.
- **Instant payouts, for channels that qualify.** On a TipPage payout balance we can switch on instant payouts for your channel: money in your bank within minutes rather than days, for a 1% fee shown before you confirm. The switch is per channel, and you're notified when it's flipped for yours - and again when your payout method, a debit card or a supported bank account, becomes eligible to take them. [Details](/payments/getting-paid#payouts).
- **Gated by the Payments permission.** Seeing the balance and the payout history needs read access to Payments; paying out, changing the schedule or bank account and moving payouts need write access. The owner and super admins always have both. Nobody else on the team can, whatever other permissions they hold.

## What changes

| | Legacy Stripe account | TipPage payouts |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Where your balance is | dashboard.stripe.com | The Overview, with a **Pay out** button, and Settings, Payments |
| Paying out | Stripe's schedule, managed at Stripe | The schedule you pick when you move - manual, daily, weekly or monthly - changeable in TipPage any time, instant where enabled |
| Your bank account | Managed at Stripe | Managed on the Payments tab |
| Anything Stripe needs from you | An email from Stripe | An email from TipPage, plus a banner and a notification in the dashboard; the Payments tab lists what's needed. Stripe never emails you |
| Refunds you grant | Come out of your Stripe balance | Come out of your payout balance, then your bank |
| Chargebacks | Come out of your Stripe balance | Come out of your payout balance, then your bank |

The last two rows are the ones to read twice. Because the balance is yours to pay out whenever you like, a refund or chargeback that arrives after you've emptied it is taken from the bank account you registered. Stripe's fee and the platform fee aren't returned on a refund, as before. Tips from before the move are the exception: [TipPage covers those](#what-about-refunds-of-tips-from-before-the-move).

## What stays the same

- Your tip page, your overlay, your alerts. Viewers notice nothing.
- The per-tip fee and [the rate table](/payments/getting-paid#fees).
- Tippers still see TipPage on their statement, never your name or address.
- Refunds still happen from the **Tips** page, and requests from **Refund requests**.
- PayPal, if you use it, is untouched.
- Every tip you've already received. It was paid out by your old account, or will be on its normal schedule.

## Making the move

You'll know it's your turn when a **Payouts are moving into TipPage** banner appears at the top of the dashboard and a **Move your payouts into TipPage** panel appears on **Settings**, **Payments**. The banner shows the date we'd like you to be done by.

1. **Pick your country**

In the panel, choose the country you live in, or where your business is registered if you stream as one. It's pre-filled from your existing Stripe account where we know it, otherwise from your tip currency where that points at one country - euros don't, so you pick. Stripe needs it up front and it can't be changed afterwards.

2. **Choose how you want to be paid out**

Nothing is pre-selected: you pick, we never pick for you. Stripe bills TipPage for every payout it makes, so how often your money moves is your call. **Manual** means nothing moves until you press **Pay out**; **Daily**, **Weekly** (pick the day) and **Monthly** (pick the date) send whatever has cleared on that rhythm. [The four options in full](/payments/getting-paid#payouts). **Move my payouts** stays greyed out until you've chosen, and you can change the schedule later on **Settings**, **Payments**.

3. **Move my payouts**

Click **Move my payouts**. Stripe's form loads inside the panel, under a note with a lock: *"This form is loaded from Stripe. Everything you enter goes straight to Stripe - TipPage never sees your details."* It asks who you are - name, date of birth, address, and an ID check where the law requires one - and for the bank account your payouts should go to. Stripe does ask again even though it verified you before: this is a new payout account, and Stripe verifies whoever it pays. It's a one-off. If the form won't load in your browser, there's a link under it to open the same form on a page hosted by Stripe; you're brought back to the dashboard when you're done.

4. **Done**

When Stripe has what it needs, the panel switches over to **Payouts**, a **Balance and payouts** panel appears on your Overview, you get a "Payouts now run through TipPage" note, and the next tip settles into your new balance. Your old Stripe account is no longer connected.

Tips keep going to your old Stripe account right up until the new one is ready, so you can stop part way through and nothing changes. Come back and you'll find **Finish setup** on the panel, which reopens the form where you left off; **Cancel** throws the half-made account away.

## Questions

### What happens to my old Stripe account?

It's still yours. TipPage simply stops sending tips to it. Anything left in it pays out to your bank on its usual schedule, and you can keep using it for anything else, or close it at Stripe once its balance is zero. TipPage keeps a record of which account was yours so old tips can still be refunded.

### What about refunds of tips from before the move?

TipPage pays the donor and covers refunds and chargebacks of tips you received before the move: they were paid into your old Stripe account, so they can't come out of your new payout balance. Refund them from the Tips page as normal.

### Can a team member do this for me?

Only with write access to Payments, which super admins have. Someone with it can move payouts, see the balance, pay out and change the bank account, as they could manage payments before - which is why the Members page warns you before you grant it. Read access to Payments shows the balance and payout history without any of the buttons. A member without Payments can't see or do any of it, whatever else is ticked.

### Can I change my mind part way through?

Yes. Until Stripe has verified the new account, tips keep going to your old one. Hit **Cancel** on the panel and the half-made account is discarded; the banner comes back until you move.

### Do my fees change?

No. The per-tip fee is the same and the [rate table](/payments/getting-paid#fees) is unchanged.

### Why do I have to pick a payout schedule?

Because Stripe bills TipPage for every payout it makes, and the trade-off between money in your bank quickly and fewer, larger payouts is yours to make, not ours. Nothing is pre-selected. Pick whatever suits you and change it later on Settings, Payments.

### How do I get instant payouts?

TipPage switches them on per channel - there's nothing to apply for. When they're on for yours a notification lands in your feed, and another when your payout method (a debit card or a supported bank account) becomes eligible to take them. Once both are in place, **Instant** appears when you pay out. [More](/payments/getting-paid#payouts).

### Will Stripe email me?

No. On a TipPage payout account Stripe never contacts you - TipPage sends you every email Stripe would have. If Stripe needs something, you get an email, the dashboard shows a banner and a notification, and the Payments tab lists what's needed. Payouts pause if it isn't provided by Stripe's deadline, and you're emailed about that too.

The rest, all sent without you switching anything on: a payout your bank returned, money taken from your bank to cover a refund or chargeback your balance couldn't, a change to your payout bank account, a tip being disputed and the outcome, and the note that your move is complete. An email for every payout sent is the one you can switch off: it's on by default, and **Payout emails** on **Settings**, **Payments** turns it off. [The full list](/payments/getting-paid#emails-youll-get).

### What's the deadline?

The banner shows it. Tips don't stop on that date, but the banner turns orange and stays until you've moved.

### Will viewers notice anything?

No. The tip page, the receipts and what shows on their statement are all the same.
